ŠENTVID BY ZAVODNJE
The mountain village Šentvid pri Zavodnjah used to be called Rastoke. It is namely a watershed (“Rastoke”) between the rivers Savinja and Paka in the south and Meža and Mislinja in the north. People live here for centuries, although life in remote place has never been easy, but they still keep on staying. There is a mountain hut Andrejev dom na Slemenu close to the pass Sleme (1084) and near the road Šoštanj-Črna na Koroškem. The partisan poet Karel Destovnik – Kajuh died on the Žlebnik homestead on 22nd of February in 1944. The old church St. Vid was used as a foe post in the Second Worl War, it was burnt down by partisans in 1945. A new church was built on the same place in 1992. There are about 50 people, who live in the village Šentvid.
